he said,
'It's been a long, hot day!'

The meal was nice,
the wine was great,
the flowers were okay.
And yet, the company,
the conversations,
first so promising,
they sort of
petered out.

So I stay here,
enjoy the wine,
the cooling breeze
the setting sun

The long hot night
will have to wait...
